Android 11 will force apps to use the built-in camera app

In the past ten years, every major update of the Android system will shut down certain functions or increase some restrictions in the name of protecting user safety, but some sacrifices may not be completely necessary. According to 9to5Google reports, Android 11 cancels the function of apps calling third-party camera apps to take photos or videos , forcing users to rely on the built-in camera app.
Android 11 completely removed the camera picker. Google described this change in the list of new behaviors in Android 11 and confirmed it in Issue Tracker. We know that in the Android system, users can download and set a default camera application. If a third-party application needs to access the camera, the Android system will display a list of available camera applications.
In Android 11, when users access third-party applications, such as photo editors, they can no longer do so. Instead, the system will automatically select the pre-installed camera app . Although users can still use their favorite applications, they can no longer perform the same operation in the secondary application that calls the camera application.

Google said the reason for doing so was for privacy and security, but did not specify the dangers. Perhaps some users have been deceived by setting a malicious camera app as the default, and then using it to photograph things that should be kept private. For example, if a banking application wants to call a third-party camera application, and this application is a malicious application, Android 11 will not call the application.

Areena 360 understands that Android 11 not only automatically launches the pre-installed camera application when requested, but also prevents application developers from easily providing their own interface to simulate the same function.
